Time Capsule Diorama

  1. Each student will need a shoe box as well as a collection of things that they feel would be necessary pieces of a time capsule. You should also have magazines, newspapers and miscellaneous item for decoration available.
  2. Instruct your students to create a scene or collage that they think represents modern-day society and culture.
  3. You may want to have a list of subject areas for the diorama or collage, such as technology, health, education, and culture.
  4. Encourage your students to be creative as well as thoughtful with this assignment. You may want to correlate this activity with a whole class time capsule activity in which actual objects are placed in the capsule for burial in the schoolyard.
