Re-tell A Story
- Have books at this center that are about a series of events--a good book is Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion. Comet's Nine Lives by Jan Brett works well also.
- Students should pick one of the books to read and try to remember the order of events and some of the particular actions that occurred.
- They should then retell the story in their own words, recalling as many details as they can without looking at the book.
- You can also have younger students retell the story into a tape recorder and compare their memory with the book.
