The First Thanksgiving

  1. Have your students read The First Thanksgiving by Jean Craighead George.
  2. Have students answer a list of questions based on the book. Here are a few examples:
    • What does the word pilgrim mean?
    • Who is Squanto?
    • What were the Pilgrims celebrating for the first Thanksgiving?
  3. Have students write a brief essay on how the knowledge they gain from reading this story differs from what they previously thought.
