Does It Measure Up?

  1. In Inch By Inch, the Inch Worm measures features of birds such as necks, feathers, legs, etc. but he is unable to measure the Nightingale's song.
  2. Have your students make a list/chart of things that can be measured vs. things that can't be measured. This is a good activity for early writers as they can simply write one or two words for each idea.
  3. If using this with older students, you may have them write a mini-essay about these categories and explain why things fit in each.
