Center Focus

Corn on the Cob

  1. Bring in several cobs of corn for this center. Label each cob with a letter or number.
  2. Ask your students to find the average number of kernels on the cobs.
  3. They will need to make a chart to record the data for each cob. They will also need to explain the process they used in order to find their answer.
  4. Have a chart posted at the center with each student's name where they can record the number they came up with. When the center is completed, compare these numbers as a whole class.
