Center Focus

Author Spotlight

The reading center should be a cozy place where students can simply read. Try to have comfortable chairs, cushions, rugs, blankets, large appliance boxes for "tents," etc. Every two weeks or monthly make a display about a particular author. Include background information as well as many of their books. Have students write reviews about these books to be kept in a book review file. A 5x7 index card file works well and can easily be kept alphabetized.
