Center Focus
Spaghetti vs. Macaroni
- You will need to create a workmat for this center. Have it laminated for continued use. It needs 3 columns labeled macaroni, spaghetti, macaroni and spaghetti. You may want to add pictures as well. The macaroni stands for the curves in letters and the spaghetti for lines.
- Provide letter manipulatives for students.
- Students use the workmat to sort the letters. For example: m would go in the "both" column, s in the macaroni, and k in the spaghetti.
- Have students record results in graphical form, or simply write down results for each column.
