- During the Halloween season, read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving to your class. Or you can read a shortened version of the classic, such as The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle : And, Rip Van Winkle (Dover Children's Thrift Classics)
- At this center have your students work in groups to dramatize one of their favorite parts of the story. Encourage them to make stage displays and use costumes as necessary.
- Give students extra center time to work on their play, so that they can present it to the rest of the class.
- You may want to choose certain scenes to be depicted and have groups randomly choose from them in order to not have repeated acts. This way you can make a complete play of the story. You may wish to share it with the school if your students to a good job.
