Interactive Bulletin Boards
Who’s Who?
This is a great beginning of the year activity that will help students get to know each other. Have students draw a self-portrait using mirrors. You will probably want to make this a full-blown lesson providing example self-portraits famous artists have done. Using 5x7" index cards, have students write their name and information about themselves on one side. Attach a photograph of the student to the other side of the card. Punch holes in the top center of these cards. Mount the self-portraits on construction paper and attach to a bulletin board. Pin tacks in the center of the bottom of each portrait. Make a pocket out of tagboard to keep the cards in and attach this to a corner of the bulletin board. Students can match the names of their classmates to the portraits and then check themselves by looking at the photographs provided.
