Long Division

Create a division bracket using flannel. Cover a bulletin board with flannel and place the bracket near the top. Make numbers out of flannel that students will be able to use to complete the problem. Have a list of problems that the students need to solve along with an answer key. Also, for beginners, you may want to put several vertical strips of flannel on the board to help them keep "in line" when doing the long division. Students will enjoy being able to manipulate the numbers and having this as a non-typical way of learning division. It's also well-suited for practicing because if the problem is wrong, students can take off the numbers and try over again rather than erasing.
