Interactive Bulletin Boards

Learning Another Language

This bulletin board idea can be used when studying another country in order to help your students learn a little about another language. It can also be used for ESL, SSL or other second-language programs. Display a series of pictures portraying animals, foods, colors, or post words/phrases like thank you, hello, my name is, etc. in english or the familiar language. Put a push-pin next to each picture. Have the corresponding words written out on heavy paper and laminated in the language about which you are teaching. Punch holes in the top of each of these word cards. Make a little pouch to place these cards in and attach it to the bulletin board. Students can then place the cards with their corresponding pictures/phrases. Have a self-check available.
