Age of Exploration Timeline

Make a large timeline on your bulletin board by placing sentence strips in horizontal rows from the top to the bottom of the board. Write years that you are covering with your class in the sentence strips, spaced out somewhat proportionately. Then you will need to write different events on index cards which your students can place correctly along the timeline. You may want to attach pictures to these cards to make this activity more visually appealing. Your students can attach the cards to the board with tacks or you may want to pre place tacks on the board, punch holes in the index cards, and have your kids hang the cards over the tacks. Have a self-check available.
