Interactive Bulletin Boards

Parts of a Sentence

Place a large piece of butcher paper on a bulletin board. Write several sentences, leaving plenty of space in between each. Place a push pin beneath each word in the sentences. Make parts-of-speech word cards; mount and laminate these. Punch holes in the top of these cards and make a pocket on the bulletin board where they can be stored and easily accessed. For a center or independent activity, students may place the parts-of-speech cards underneath each word in the sentence and have fellow students check their work. Have a self-check available for them as well.
