Create a bulletin board that has space for each student's name and space for about 10 sticky notes. A good way to do this is to divide the board horizontally into sections for each student. Place a small piece of Velcro on the left side of each section. You will also need to have cards made up with each student's name. You will place the other side of the Velcro on the back of these name cards. Place the cards in a container next to this bulletin board. Have students come up to the board, pick a name card, and stick it in a space on the board. Then they should write a short message to the student on a sticky note and place it next to the recipient's name. Throughout the day, each student should go to the board to choose a name card and write them a note and they also need to check the board for notes written to them. They can respond to these notes, and they can continue to "instant message" each other throughout the week.
