Work Board
Many kids often have problems getting work done when they are given choices such as during center work. They often wander around looking for the next thing they want to do. A good way to help independent work go more smoothly is to have a work board that your students can follow. Simply create a chart on your bulletin board with columns being the groups of students and rows being the activities they have to complete. Make pictures representing each activity. You will need one picture of each activity for each group. Place these in different orders under the groups. Each group will have a different order in which they need to complete activities. They still move individually from activity to activity, but this way they know where they need to be at all times.
