Student Management

Handwashing

In some schools students have to wash their hands in the classroom before lunch rather than in the bathroom. A good way to make this go smoothly is to assign a student to each of the following jobs:

  • soap squirter
  • water control
  • towel passer-outer

Students enjoy the responsibility of these jobs and it eliminates some of the problems of students taking a long time, using way too much soap, wasting paper towels, etc. Also in order to keep the noise down, call the class by groups to get in line. If you keep groups consistent, eventually students will know when it is their groups turn and when to get in line without you having to call them. While the students are washing their hands, you can play trivia games with the rest of the class.
