Class Store
As we all know, student supplies are always getting lost or misplaced, especially pencils. In order to teach students some responsibility as well as give them an opportunity to replace missing items, open up a class store. You may want to have it open the first and last 10 minutes of each day. Running the store can be a student job. Keep pencils, pens, erasers, rulers, and a few other items in the store and charge a minimum price for the supplies. This way, when students have to part with $.10 or $.25, they may try to be more careful with their supplies. Often parents don't buy supplies for their kids, not because of the money, but because of the time. So this will help many parents too! And your students will learn about management, inventory, and bookkeeping. Any extra money that your class store makes, you can put towards a class party or special classroom supplies.
