Sponge Activities

How many?

Fill a glass jar with beans, peas, pebbles, or another similar substance. Have your students each predict how many they think are in the jar. Discuss random guessing vs. educated guessing. Write down the predictions on the board. As a group, count the items in the jar and compare the results with the predictions.
