Give your students quick skills with using a dictionary by having them do some of the following activities:

• Estimate where certain letters (where words that start with that letter) are in the dictionary just by looking at the side of a closed dictionary.
• Figure out which way to flip through the book to get to certain words.
• Race to find words.
• Find the part of speech of the first definition of a given word.

Your kids will have a great time doing this and they will learn basic dictionary skills as well.
