Bell Work

Valentine’s Day Symbols

Place a large piece of butcher paper at each table for your students before they arrive. You may want to choose Valentine's Day colors--white, red, and pink. Have your students work in groups to think of all the different symbols associated with Valentine's Day. Encourage them to record their thoughts on the paper in creative ways, (i.e. they could cut the paper into the shape of a heart and draw pictures associated with the symbols they thought of). If you want to give students extra time for this Bell Work, you can also provide construction and scrap paper for intense decoration! Hang these up outside the class as your Valentine's Day Mural.
