Bell Work

Common Words

Take an excerpt from a kid's book, magazine, or newspaper. Have students write down a few words they think to be the most common in print. Then, have them read the article and count the number of times these words are found. Have them record the numbers for each word they chose. Also, have them notice other words that are common in the writing.
