Writing Prompts

Try to keep a camera with you when you go places and take pictures of interesting scenes. Take some with a lot of things "going on," such as a park and close ups of animals and plants. Keep a photograph box at school to store all of these in. You can use them for writing activities. Students can make it the setting for their story and then zoom on a particular aspect of the scene. Or for detailed writing and poetry they can write about the close-up pictures. You can also use them to spark conversations.
